Hey Hallstatt, you big show off. Nothing like a little “Alpine Wine” to make a day great. We have to admit, your super scenic drive in, zipping through Bavaria to the soundtrack of German radio remakes of our old American favorites, struck a perfect chord for us. Already scheming for how to find our way back with the whole crew, maybe for a week or two!
I stared across the Lake at the Fairytale Castle, and then halfway expected to bump in to Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty.
As one of my favorite “sailor girl” bloggers @sarahkjp wrote about Hallstatt, “I wish I could put this beautiful moment in a snow globe and take it home with me.” Me too Sarah.
Thanks to the confident UPS driver within our group for getting us all the way from Passau, Germany to Hallstatt via the Audubon and a million little Austrian towns. Even if we did have one teensy tiny near-death experience.
Side note… she got noticed by the marketing team for her ultra-stylish outfits throughout the journey. Want to see more? You can find Rebecca on Instagram at @60pictures. Currently in Nashville with the Accessory Sisters, we are expecting some great @60pictures outfit inspiration next week!
One of the nice things about Hallstatt is that she lets you down easy.
Have you ever been to a great movie and then pushed out the theatre doors in to the parking lot and felt like you just lost the air in your tires? It was good. You didn’t have enough time, and you don’t want it to end. Well, as soon as you leave Hallstatt, you get treated to another panoramic smorgasbord as you drive through mountain tunnels and wind your way around the Lake, which is pretty large. There is plenty of time to relax and think about planning your trip back.
Oh, and Lady Hallstatt has plenty of sailboats. Atta girl!
One note of caution when you rent a car there and get behind the wheel… the local drivers are not to be underestimated. They might look like they are driving a vehicle from Main Street Disneyland, but the truth is they can catch air in their tractor. Just please trust me on this. Welcome to the Indianapolis Fairytale 500. You must get out of the way.
I am not sure which sweet European town to set sail to next on our photo journey, but we have a few more Crown Jewels to choose from.
Thanks for your readership and support of this blog! My hope is that by sharing our story, it will help inspire others to swap their chore list for their bucket list. I may not be rich or famous, but I wouldn’t trade this life for any other. Boats can sink or sail, but we always know Hope Floats.
