Good Morning Los Angeles, California. Here we come! Check out this view from OUE Skyspace downtown. We had a blast there, but first a stop at Grand Central Market for a legendary breakfast sandwich from the Eggslut. For the record, Tori chose the house-smoked Bagels & Lox from Wexler’s instead, in an effort to keep her reputation “clean.” Apparently the rest of us have no willpower, because we waited in line for 40 minutes and sank in to our Eggslut sammies with no concern at all for the impact to our social media accounts.
On to the fun… make sure to read to the end of the blog post to see a great photo, enter to win the Windlasse monthly drawing, and follow a link to something uber cool I hope to see in L.A. very soon!
Grand Central Market
We also paid a visit to Valerie Confections to pocket some petits fours for later. From what I am told, each tiny piece is made of four individual cake layers. That’s it four calories… one, two, three, four.
Not a bad flavor selection:
DOES NOW SEEM LIKE A PERFECT TIME TO HIT A GLASS-ENCLOSED SLIDE POSITIONED 1,000 FEET ABOVE THE CITY?
I’m not sure what we were thinking… but Eggslut and Skyslide are not a perfect combination. In retrospect, we maybe should have spaced that out more.
OUE Skyspace Skyslide
The cost of this adventure is pretty steep, but we were able to take advantage of the Family Funday Sunday pass, which allowed for unlimited slide rides for the girls.
Fortunately, this attraction was one we didn’t need to chicken out on, because to be honest with you, we do have some chickens in our coop. Not naming names, but you know who you are. After watching, and enjoying, the various dismounts of others, we went for it.
Yes, we ALL went for it. No, you don’t get to see ALL of the pictures. What happens in L.A., stays in L.A.
It was also fun to look around at the other cool things to see at OUE Skyspace, including 360 degree views of Los Angeles and neat interactive exhibits.
On top of the world now. Girls headed to class. Moms descend upon Rodeo Drive.
We resisted the urge to walk in to stores we can’t afford yelling “Big mistake. Big. Huge!” and instead strolled leisurely around trying to blend in with the crowd. There is, of course, a little voice inside that screams, “oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I’m shopping Rodeo Drive” and for a brief, glorious moment you see your perfect dress in the window of the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel and envision being a princess.
Here’s the dress.
After taking a closer look, it did not actually have our name on it. 🙂
All good things must come to an end, so we set our sights on the LACMA to see the Urban Lamplight Exhibit. Stopped at the SAG office to take care of a little business first.
La Brea Tar Pits & LACMA Urban Light Street Lamps
There’s Mimi with her Hollywood Grandma book.
On to the LACMA Urban Light Lamposts!
I wished we would have had more time to go inside the LACMA Museum, but there was a lot of interesting stuff to enjoy outside too – including this crazy boulder thing!
I’ll go anywhere and do anything with these two cool chics – even stand under a giant boulder. We have so much fun together.
Lastly, here’s my favorite photo of the weekend, and the link to a fascinating article on a new scientific breakthrough that turns smog in to diamonds.
If you ask me, that’s the best kind of hope for the future. Now it’s time to go home and see my Boys. 🙂
