Full disclosure… I think I may be headed straight in to a bigtime Flamingo phase…
For a very long time, I have been wondering why these elegant birds have gotten such a bad rap. Every chance I see them, I am impressed by their colored splendor, their incredible balance, and the fact that they always seem to have so many friends. My sister-in-law and I had a blast shopping at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in February, where despite their history, these birds still take center stage. However, literally everyone else I know brushes them off as totally tacky, so over the years, I have chosen not to admire them publicly for fear of being shunned. I found this article online which gives some insight in to the sadness of this phenomenon. The thing is, for some reason having a blog opens you up to reveal your deepest secrets, sometimes to virtual friends you have never met. Here today I’m coming out with it… I am a closet Flamingo fanatic and I am on the verge of letting loose! Wow, that feels so good. Now that my secret is out, I’m not even sure where to start…
Maybe the closet? Admittedly, I do like it there. 🙂
Probably the first step is to get a request in to my personal Stitch Fix stylist, Alyssa, for THIS incredible jacket.

It has “me, me, me” written all over it, and prayers have been sent that it is still in stock. As my mom knows well, if I see a piece of clothing and start to hear the sounds of a gospel choir in the background singing Aleluia, I know I’ve found a match. The bells are really ringing on this one mama.
I plan to pair it with a black and white striped shirt I already have and this sweet Flamingo scarf first seen on the Stylish Petite blog…

I’m pretty sure these Soludas flamingos chambray espadrilles are a home run…

Flirty flamingo socks…do we need these? Probably yes.

Just because “love is in the details” I think we may need this Lizzie Darden Flamingo fro-yo pin too.

Before I start flamingling in these outfits, I might want to take a shower with the birds. Fortunately, other lonely fans are out there, because there exists a whole curated list of Flamingo shower curtains to choose from!

All this flaminga-citement makes me ready to settle in with a pink drink, and the Mrs. (Mrs. Lilien, of course) really delivers with this cocktail from her popular blog.

I’ll probably use the darling black and white petite plates Terri gave me for my birthday this year to hold my Flamingo cupcake.
Flamingo fun cupcake toppers from GingerRay.
If I didn’t already have those cute plates, I’d be on my way to Cost Plus for their kitchen flock.

If you stumble on to any more flamingo treasures please let me know. As the saying goes, “birds of a feather stick together,” and I don’t think I’ll be straying from my crush anytime soon. I love the way these animals rock the flock and strut their stuff.
So ladies, should we put our tail feathers up this summer? There’s lots of room left in this club. 🙂
Sunday Night Cheers,
