One thing we try really hard to teach our kids is to make good choices when no one else is around. It would probably help if I would lead the way by setting a good example, but too often I end up shuffling away from my daily responsibilities and heading down a rabbit hole. Take for example last night…
My husband is out of town coaching softball, and my kids are enjoying spring break with their grandparents at the beach. Which leaves me plenty of time for things like catching up on the mail, cleaning out the fridge, organizing backpacks and cupboards, doing laundry and yard work. Instead, I stopped in for a quick peek at TJ Maxx and bumped in to this handsome Cottontail. He left me twitterpated, but this was not an “impulse buy.” I took his picture and wandered around a while before deciding to come back and scoop Peter up. Two ladies admired him in my cart, so I know that I am lucky to call this bunny my own. However, just like that, all the potential of the night was set aside for much less noble events involving Fluffy Bunny cream, a Cadbury Egg and a glass of Chardonnay.
If we are being really honest, TJ Maxx isn’t where things started to go wrong with the night…
Back in December, my Aunt’s Mom invited us to join their family for New Year’s at their timeshare in Seaside, Oregon. For the 2nd year in a row, this has been an absolutely treasured opportunity that we cannot thank them enough for.
There is a sweet little aquarium along the boardwalk that let’s you in on the action during seal feeding time, and they have nice exhibits too.
The first year, we spent some time in the afternoon exploring the small town of Cannon Beach.
Then we enjoyed a performance of Beauty and the Beast, in a 1920’s remodeled roller rink at the Coaster Theatre Playhouse.

On this last trip, we also played baseball on the beach and discovered a fun clothes/gift shop that had these incredibly soft shortie robes.

I didn’t find them until we were ready to leave, so I just noted the name of the company, PJ Salvage, on the tag to look for later. When I checked online, I found they were sold out at Nordstrom, but on sale at Nordstrom Rack. That’s how I very innocently ended up driving straight from work to Nordstrom Rack last night. Unfortunately, they were out there too, so if I really want a sweet PJ Salvage plush robe, I’ll have to place an order with Nordstrom Rack online.
This shop is just down the rabbit hole across the street from TJ Maxx, so I decided to poke my head in there too. After finding handsome Peter pictured above, I grabbed a sandwich and a bottle of wine at the grocery store next door, and picked up a couple of Cadbury eggs for my daughter and husband, since Easter is this weekend. In case you are wondering, these treats have an interesting history. The cashier pointed out that Cadbury eggs were “buy two get one free” this week. My son doesn’t like chocolate so naturally, I had to step up to the plate on this one and take it for the team.

The FarmHouse Fresh Fluffy Bunny Shea Butter was a gift from a friend, and I’ve been carrying it around for a week in my purse, enjoying the lovely scent and the ability to have soft hands on demand.

I would love to continue all day heading down this rabbit hole with you, but unfortunately, after my night of luxury, I have dishes to wash and work to do!
Hope your day is off to a soft start,
