I’ve now had about 48 hours to consider how I’m going to handle this curveball. If you think by curveball I’m talking about America’s Favorite Pastime, you should be jumping over to my husband’s Weekly Digest here, where he can go extra innings with you on all things baseball and softball. The curveball I am tackling head on right now is the big one from Tuesday’s news. Here I am, tail end of January, still “pinning” my plans to have a great winter and BAM! out of nowhere comes this chubby chap to change my course…

Last year at this time, this guy saw his shadow and we were blessed with six more weeks of winter play. Since it doesn’t look like he has changed much since then, I expected a similar outcome this year, but to be honest, I haven’t been paying that much attention to him. Have other things going on. Well, Phil claims he DID NOT see his shadow this year, and now he’s got my full attention, because I was really looking forward to some more winter fun which looks a lot like this …

And more of this..
My favorite way to spend a winter night with my family is with the Portland Winterhawks! These hockey games have helped us to make some great memories. We always try to get there early (at least six minutes) so we can see the opening intro on the big screen, and so that we can get Dennis’ great parking spot. Even if you’re not a hockey fan, if you love kids and seeing their dreams come true, you should check out the Winterhawks opening video here.

What I’ve decided about Phil’s Tuesday news is that this means I really need to ramp up my winter fun strategy, and put these things on the calendar asap! If anyone has other great ideas about how to handle the 2016 Groundhog curveball please share them in the comments section, as we are really running out of time folks. Apparently, it’s going to get even more complicated next year, because now we need to start keeping an eye on the Oregon Zoo’s Velda too. 🙂
Stay tuned for an All About Spring post coming soon…
Enjoy your last days of winter!
